Aneli Villas, Zakynthos Isle
In the middle of a vineyard and at the site of the old building, which was completely demolished during the earthquake of 1953, on the island of Zakynthos, a new building was created in 2002 to resemble the old one.
Complex of three luxurious residences, in one of the most beautiful spots of Attica, on the overgrown slope of Ekali, on sloping ground.
The construction of two of the three luxury homes preceded.
Architect Nikos Ktenas designed them around 1996, following a minimal style dominated by geometrically shaped, perforated reinforced concrete blocks, partially resting on point supports and resembling “floating” in the air.
The buildings are made of high quality and aesthetics “fare-faced” reinforced concrete of high quality and aesthetics.
The architecture is completely identical to the load-bearing structure of the buildings – a characteristic of Ktena’s architectural design.
The bearing body is apparent and creates a sculpture in the space as the architecture is highlighted through the geometric shapes that characterize the construction.
The static and anti-seismic design had to follow the architecture in order to allow – as far as possible – its free development while making the buildings constructible and safe against static and anti-seismic loads.
For this reason, the solution of capacity design, which provides for strengthening of the “weak” points of construction, has been implemented.
In this way, absolute freedom is given to the architectural design.
