Family House, Porto Rafti, Athens
New, modern villa, right on the seafront, in the bay of Porto Rafti, in Attica, a work of architect Nikos Ktenas.
Luxurious, family residence of approximately 800m2, of a contemporary-classic style, consisting of basement, ground floor and two more floors.
It was designed by the architect Alexander Samaras and built in the seaside area of Varkiza, in Attica.
The architectural particularity of the dwelling is the interruption in the underground level, of a cylindrical staircase core which is designed in the center of the building’s plan view, as the underground level serves as a parking lot and must be as free of vertical elements as possible.
The statics design provided the construction of concrete filled steel tubes in the basement, as composite columns of high strength, ductility and stiffness, to support the entire reinforced concrete cylindrical core of the super-structure.
At the same time, at the underground level, the earthquake can be fully undertaken by the peripheral reinforced concrete walls.
The static design was in full accordance with the building’s architecture, without changes and the building features a high quality construction.
