Voyatzoglou Systems’ commercial products Logistics Center has a 20,000m2 storage space in a single building and is one of the largest in its kind. It was designed by architect N. Ktenas and is located 40km north of Athens, on the side of the Athens-Thessaloniki highway. Commercial and storage facilities are located on the ground floor and in the basement, while the two upper floors accommodate offices.
The foundations of the building consist of reinforced concrete slabs on the ground.
Both at the ground floor and basement level there were pre-existing foundation slabs, which were properly reinforced and expanded, a fact that significantly reduced construction costs.
A large 6,000m2 underground basement with 10m openings of reinforced concrete has been built, which has large ramps and entrances for easy truck access.
The superstructure is a steel-profile construction with composite slabs.
The Logistics Center is roofed with steel-profile frames, with continuous multiple 4x30m spans, 11m height and 10m distance between them.
The office building features vertical x-shaped bracings against earthquake.
On the facade of the buildings, the 12m spans provide easy truck access and convenient product loading and unloading process.
The roof is covered by solar photovoltaic panels.
Cubus performed all phases of statics and earthquake resistant design, as well as the high supervision during the construction of the project.
